Hello  everybody!! Here I am again! This is Lee Albreht's hardanger kit, almost finished...
 

Reticello - step # 12

I'm so sorry that I can hardly find some  free  time to stitch! Nevertheless, here is my progress on the 12th step of Lee's  reticello lesson (I've left step #11 for later).

Λυπάμαι πολύ που μόλις μετά βίας βρίσκω λίγο ελεύθερο χρόνο για κέντημα!
Παρ' όλα αυτά σας παρουσιάζω την πρόοδό μου στο 12ο βήμα των μαθημάτων της Lee (άφησα το βήμα #11 γι αργότερα).

Lee Albrecht's No 1 Hardanger Kit - #1

Today is a very very cold and one of the very rare snowy days in Athens! The mountains surrounding the basin of Attica are covered with snow and the temperature is very low, almost 2 Celsius degrees.

I sit on the couch, legs covered with a blanket, a lamp lit, the needle in hand......

This is my progress so far on Lee Albrecht's Basic Course of Hardanger.....

Σήμερα είναι μια πολύ κρύα μέρα και από τις σπάνιες που βλέπουμε χιόνι στην Αθήνα! Τα βουνά του λεκανοπεδίου είναι χιονισμένα και η θερμοκρασία είναι πολύ χαμηλή, περίπου 2 βαθμοί Κελσίου...

Κάθομαι στον καναπέ με μια κουβέρτα ριγμένη στα πόδια μου και τη βελόνα ανά χείρας....

Αυτή είναι η μέχρι τώρα πρόοδός μου στο  Basic Course of Hardanger της Lee Albrecht ...

Reticello - First Stitch Of The Year

  Hello my friends! I'm back!

  My computer has just recovered from a severe hard disk stroke... Although my husband has managed to retrieve all my important files, he still haven't finished with many unadjusted settings.
 
  This is my progress so far on Lee's Step #7 Buttonhole Point Flower and Step #8 Buttonhole Point Arched Flower.

  This technique is very special, isn't it?

Learning reticello......

I've just realised the great importance of marking with a running stitch the areas to be embroidered. Once you've done this time-consuming job, then you continue with no need of recounting ever. The needle runs, you always know if you've made a mistake or not, you never undo more than one stitch,  the cutting of the threads becomes a very easy task. 

After studying  Lee's instructions and making a private study on how to mark the threads to be cut, I think that I have no questions or missunderstanding on the subject.

The next step, cutting and making the satin stitch border inside every area, is a challenge for me as I've never done it before.

I hope that I won't mess it up...

Μαθαίνοντας reticello...
Τώρα μόλις συνειδητοποίησα πόσο πολύ σημαντικό είναι το σημάδεμα των περιοχών που πρόκειται να κεντηθούν με τρύπωμα . Άπαξ και τελειώσεις με αυτή την πολύ χρονοβόρα εργασία, δεν χρειάζεται ποτέ πιά να ασχοληθείς ξανά με το μέτρημα. Η βελόνα τρέχει, σε κάθε βελονιά ξέρεις αν έχεις κάνει λάθος ή όχι, ποτέ δεν ξηλώνεις περισσότερες από μια βελονιές, το κόψιμο των κλωστών γίνεται μια εργασία πολύ εύκολη.

Αφού μελέτησα τις οδηγίες της  Lee και έκανα και μια δική μου μελέτη σχετικά με το πως να σημαδέψεις ποιες κλωστές θα κοπούν, δεν έχω πια καμιά απορία σχετικά με το θέμα.

Το επόμενο βήμα ,να κόψω τις κλωστές και να κεντήσω με ανεβατή βελονιά το εσωτερικό περιθώριο κάθε περιοχής, είναι για μένα μία πρόκληση αφού είναι μια εργασία που δεν την έχω ξανακάνει ποτέ.

Ελπίζω να μη τα θαλασσώσω...

Reticello is a very beautiful italian embroidery that I always wanted to learn. When I found  that  Lee Albrecht  would teach this technique to a limited group of ten women worldwide , I asked her to be one of her students. Here I am, participating in her International Exchange Embroidery Lee Albrecht . Thanks Lee!!
Although linen fabric should be used , I experiment on a 32 ct cotton piece. This is my progress so far. It's been a very arduous task that took me  three mornings under direct sunlight to finish all the preparation by counting threads and doing the running stitching . Not to mention that my glasses weren't sufficient  for working on such a fine fabric, so I have used extra magnifying  lenses!!

Το reticello είναι ένα πολύ όμορφο ιταλικό κέντημα που πάντα ήθελα να μάθω. Όταν ανακάλυψα ότι η Lee Albrecht θα διδάξει αυτή την τεχνική σε ένα περιορισμένο αριθμό δέκα γυναικών απ' όλο τον κόσμο , ζήτησα να είμαι μια από τις μαθήτριές της. Νάμαι λοιπόν τώρα να συμμετέχω στη  Διεθνή Ανταλλαγή Κεντήματος της Lee Albrecht . Σ' ευχαριστώ Lee!!
 Παρόλο που συνηθίζεται να χρησιμοποιείται λινό  ύφασμα, εγώ θα πειραματιστώ μ' ένα κομμάτι βαμβακερό με 32 κλωστές στην ίντσα (8 κλωστές στο εκατοστό). Αυτή είναι η μέχρι τώρα πρόοδός μου. Πρόκειται για μια πολύ επίπονη εργασία, μου πήρε τρία πρωινά κάτω από το δυνατό φως του ήλιου για να τελειώσω το τρύπωμα, την προετοιμασία δηλαδή για να ξεκινήσω το κέντημα. Περιττό να αναφέρω ότι αφού τα γυαλιά μου δεν με βοηθούσαν αρκετά για να δουλεψω πάνω σ' ένα τόσο λεπτο ύφασμα, χρειάστηκε να χρησιμοποιήσω πρόσθετους μεγεθυντικούς φακούς!!
