Greek Christmas Sweets - Κουραμπιέδες

Merry Sweet Christmas!!
There are two traditional cookies that are made for the Christmas season and can be found in every greek home that respects tradition, "kourabiedes" and "melomakarona". My mother and I have decided each of us to make a double amount of one kind  of the sweets and give the half to the other.  I made myself the "kourabiedes"  in the same way I learned from my mother when I was at my parents' house. And behold them ...they look like snow covered peaks don't they?....

All ingredients gathered on the table.

The almonds coarsely chopped and roasted.

Beatting the fresh butter.

Adding  fine powdered sugar.

Adding the almonds.

After  the flour is added, the dough is ready.

Cut  the sweets....

.......by using a small glass.

Let's bake them.

After they are baked, bury them in fine sugar for one night....

... and the next day sprinkle with fine sugar.

Place on a platter and cover with a cellophane.
